The devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew, both internationally and in our home state of North Carolina, has touched us all. Those suffering in the wake of this storm are in our prayers.
We at St. Andrew’s, like many in our community, are asking how we can help. This is a busy week for us as we prepare for our annual Bazaar, a parish-wide event that is both a fundraiser and a celebration for our parish. We believe that in this celebration there is an opportunity to support those in need.
We have decided to allocate half of all income from this Saturday’s Bazaar towards local and international relief for those affected by the hurricane. This will not impact the 25% of the Bazaar income already pledged to our Mission and Outreach ministries: local outreach remains a vital ministry as well and shouldn’t be affected by immediate needs elsewhere.
I hope you’ll join us Saturday for this great event, and that by spending generously you will know that half of it will go towards flood relief, and more beyond that towards local outreach work. I hope you’ll join me as well in supporting and praying for those whose lives have been disrupted by Hurricane Matthew.
